Graphical sound

Graphical sound is recorded sound which has been synthesized from images. It was first invented in the early 20th century by drawing images directly onto film or paper and playing them back. Nowadays there are a number of mobile apps and computer programs through which we can make graphical sound – in this workshop, Lavolsava introduces some of these and invites participants to explore their environment through them, as well as making their own images for sounding.
